Bryce alerted me to the grief-stricken aftermath of Flower's passing.

Animal Planet's forums are worth a browse, assuming that you're not, say, a human being from Namibia, in which case you might get offended (or maybe just hungry for meerkat). This thread in particular is theologically penetrating:

"I would have to believe that if GOD were still writing the Bible in modern times, He would have to put Flower in there to teach us a lesson about strength, endurance, patience, and most of all love."

All we need is a latter-day Joseph Smith. Perhaps James Cameron could find some golden plates under the meerkat burrows?
