Applied Epistemology

Princeton's ESP lab is closing. The long scientific romance of pursuing the paranormal (which started at the same time as the rest of modern science, with early figures such as Paracelsus, or Newton's passionate interest in the occult, and continued right into the early 20th century with societies for "psychical research") is breathing its last, dispersing into the fog of quackery. Someone needs to write the history of this warren of blind alleys.
